A man
A boat
A dream
In a small town in the Gulf of Mexico region, United States, in the late 1950s, an American named Edison Chouest owned two wooden vessels used for shrimp fishing. He was 43 years old, and his dream was to own a steel-hulled vessel, which was easier to maintain at the time.
Over time, by 1960, Edison had fulfilled his dream and acquired a steel-hulled vessel, initially intending to convert it for shrimp fishing. However, the purchase contract required that the vessel be used to support an oil platform for six months before the conversion could take place.
Six months passed, and Edison realized that the support operation was more stable, predictable, and less demanding than shrimp fishing. He saw it as a promising source of income for when he eventually retired from shrimping.
The plans soon surpassed the original idea of retirement. Edison left the shrimp fishing business and, with his entrepreneurial and visionary spirit, founded Edison Chouest Boat Rental, a maritime support vessel company, in Galliano, Louisiana.
Over 60 years of history, the company has expanded its services and developed innovative solutions that have earned it global recognition for diverse and dynamic maritime transportation options. The commitment to environmental responsibility and caring for people and communities remains a top priority, guided by the belief that progress has no finish line.
